The Chancel
The chancel, like the altar,
is part of the east end of the church. Home to the church's impressive
organ, the chancel is also home to the choir stalls and the vicar's
stall. A step from the nave separates
this area and a cross often hangs above at the entrance to the chancel.
A thorough restoration of the chancel was carried
out in 1863 by the lay rectors at a cost of £1000, the east
window was inserted in 1890 and was a gift of General Chippendale.
The photographs below, show views of the chancel
as well as the organ and the east window in the distance.
